University’s works hampered due to incomplete executive council

Lamahi, March 7 ,,  Nepal Sanskrit University’s works have been hampered as its executive council has not been given full shape yet.
The 71st senate meeting of the university held recently with the participation of chancellor of the university and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and pro-chancellor and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel failed to endorse the members of the executive council nominated by the vice-chancellor, University Administrator Dr Himlal Panthi said.
Although the names of two persons nominated to the university executive council by vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kul Prasad Koirala were proposed in the senate meeting, the senate meeting failed to endorse them.
The university executive council is a five-member body. The vice-chancellor is the chairperson, the registrar is the member-secretary and the rector a member of the council. Apart from these officials, one member is nominated from among the professors and another from among the university teachers by the vice-chancellor.
The university’s works have been hampered due to the executive council not getting full shape. The council has the authority of carrying out works by taking emergency decisions in various situations, including works which require financial transaction of over Rs 100 thousand.
The university has also not been able to take some crucial policy decisions as the executive council is not complete, it is said.
