Bajura, April 9 ,, The local governments in Bajura, the district in the Far-West state, are facing hurdles in carrying out day-to-day official activities due to the shortage of employees. It is about two years since the local-level elections were held, but grudges of the locals have remained the same. The people’s representatives are worried to see no progress in multiple affairs that needed to be carried out earlier. Several works ranging from agreement signing with the local consumers’ committees to cost estimates have remained undone due to the employee crisis when the third quarter of the fiscal year has already begun.
Administrative activities have almost come to a total halt as employees assigned here earlier are going back with the implementation of the adjustment process. According to Gaumul rural municipality chair Hari Bahadur Rokaya, officiating chief administrative officer Tankanath Khanal has already left the office for another working station, but his replacement has not been made yet, thus affecting the daily administrative works of the rural municipality. With the government decision to bring the adjustment process into practice, Bajura’s local levels are becoming vacant.
The Jagannath rural municipality and Khaptad Chhededaha rural municipality are facing the same issue, said Khapdad Chhededaha chair Nara Bahadur Rawat. The District Coordination Committee, Bajura said remote areas are not the preference of employees who chose to be appointed at urban areas, at offices near to their homes and areas with relatively more facilities. State social development minister Krishna Raj Subedi also said activities of local governments have been affected due to employees’ issue which has also increased challenges in the budget implementation. “The State government is committed to resolving the problem.” —
