A health information centre has been established in tourism city Dhulikhel. The structure was put in place to manage integrated information system in health sector. It is expected to contribute to the concept of ‘healthy city’ put forth by the municipality. Sandeep KC, Dhulikhel municipality health coordinator, said the centre will be useful to access information of overall health status of the municipality. According to him, the municipality will alsoi obtain information on overall health status of the municipal area while students, researchers and tourists can also access the relevant health information from the centre. The municipality joined its hands with Dhulikhel Hospital for the setup of the centre at primary health centre. So far this is the first-ever health info centre established at local government level in Nepal. “In line with the policy to develop Dhulikhel as a child-friendly and environment-friendly city, the centre has been established”, said Dhulikhel Mayor Ashok Kumar Byanju Shrestha. He shared that the centre will integrate and provide information related to the health sector of the municipality. Through the centre, one can access information such as updated population of Dhulikhel municipality, number of people with different diseases and their status. The information sharing mechanism will be useful or general public and tourists, said Health Office Dhulikhel Chief Nanda Raj Awasthi.
