Kathmandu, Sept 25,,  The Supreme Court has asked the government to release Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, Spokesperson of Biplab-led Nepal Communist Party, who was arrested on charge of extorting businesspersons.
A division bench of Justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Tanka Bahadur Moktan issued the order Tuesday to release Bishwokarma in the presence of registrar Raj Prasad Bhattarai, reasoning that he was kept in detention illegally. The Justices argued that the concerned State bodies were not serious despite repeated order for Bishwokarma’s release.
This is the fifth time the SC issued order asking the government to release him. However, he was being held repeatedly.
The Kathmandu Police had initiated action against Bishwokarma, accusing him of extorting Rs 70 million from various businesspersons.
