Kathmandu, April 5 ,, Bhikkhu Ashwaghosh, Sanghanayaka of Theravada Buddhism Bhikkhu Federation, has passed away today. He was 94.
Ashwaghosh, who was suffering from kidney, heart and liver problems and from pneumonia and high blood pressure, died in course of treatment at Grande International Hospital in Dhapasi, Kathmandu, said Bhikkhu Tapssidhamma, adding that mortal remains of the Sanghanayaka will be put at Sangram Vihar in Dhalko for general people to pay their tribute.
Having devoted his around eight decades’ time to promote Buddha philosophy and literature, Ashwaghosh has authored around 150 books related to Buddhism. He was also advisor for the All Nepal Bhikkhu Association. Meanwhile, the Federation has called an emergency meeting today evening at 5 pm. —
