Gulariya, Bardiya, Sept. 9 ,, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has accused the incumbent government of imposing excessive taxes.
Inaugurating the NC’s Bardiya Chapter’s District Conference at Gulariya in Bardiya on Sunday, leader Deuba asserted that the incumbent government, instead of ensuring development and good-governance for the people, has added to their woes by increasing taxes and high inflation.
Deuba asserted, “At a time when it has been increasingly difficult for the people to manage two square meals, the government increased the taxes and inflation. At such times, hatred could not only arise among the public against the government but also the system.”
The former Prime Minister said that his party would not boycott the recent taxation system.
On the occasion, NC’s Secretary General Shashank Koirala argued that the State should pay attention to providing employment to those around 5.5 million youth toiling in the foreign shores. He also called for the cooperation from the cadres to take ahead the party undivided.
Likewise, former Secretary General of NC, Krishna Prasad Situala accused the government of imposing taxes for not ensuring safety and security to the people and failing to curb the inflation. He also urged the government not to interfere in the matter of the press and the judiciary.
