Kathmandu, July 22 (RSS): It has been voiced that the students who have gained medical education in Nepal and developed expertise should be recognized by India’s Medical Council.
Although Nepal provides masters in medical education on various 47 subjects, the Indian Medical Council provides recognition to those graduating in only 11 subjects. The Tribhuvan University has allocated 35 percent quota for foreign students while Kathmandu University allocated 40 percent.
Moreover, NMC provides license to the doctors reading in the medial colleges recognized by the Indian Medical Council. So, the NMC has been voicing for the license from Indian Medical Council to those graduated from the colleges recognized by it.
NMC Chairman Dr Dharma Kant Baskota has said such voice was reached to Indian Prime Minister through Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. This issue was raised also during the last visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Nepal.
Joint Secretary at Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr Hari Lamsal, said efforts were on to request the Indian government through the Foreign Ministry.
