Kathmandu, July 16 (RSS): Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives has been put off for half-an-hour due to obstruction of Nepali Congress.
In the beginning of the meeting, NC lawmakers protested after standing from their respective seats, saying the government was not seen serious to address the demands of agitating Dr Govinda KC.
On the occasion, NC lawmaker Min Bahadur Bishwokarma blamed that the government has been making preparation to present the Medical Education Bill in the Parliament against the sentiment and aspiration of Mathema Commission.
He said, “We will continue to disrupt Parliament proceedings unless demands of Dr KC are addressed as the government has been turning its deaf ears to the voice raised time and again to save the life of agitating Dr KC by addressing KC’s demands.”
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara put off the meeting for half-an-hour after NC lawmakers continued to protest despite repeated requests from the Speaker to take their respective seats.
Objecting to the Bishwokarma’s remarks, Krishna Bhakta Pokharel of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) said that the Bill would be brought through regular process and no one should breach the parliamentary practice.
Similarly, another lawmaker of CPN Khagaraj Adhikari said that there was violation of an agreement as the NC obstructed to forward the bill brought with consensus after holding discussion with the ruling parties.
He said there is a provision in the regulations that no one should obstruct the House at a time when the Speaker is addressing.
