Indian-controlled Kashmir chief minister calls for end to hostilities along India-Pakistan border

NEW DELHI, June 13 (Xinhua) — Indian-controlled Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday called for cessation of hostilities along the border between India and Pakistan to protect lives and properties of people living in the frontier areas.
Mufti’s call has come in the backdrop of Wednesday’s alleged killing of four Indian border guards in the skirmishes with Pakistan in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
In the meantime, Pakistani foreign ministry also said on Wednesday in a statement that Indian forces resorted to “unprovoked ceasefire violation” along the LoC on Tuesday in Chirikot Sector, resulting in one civilian’s death in Trothi village.
The statement said that in 2018 Indian forces have “carried out more than 1100 ceasefire violations” along the LoC and the Working Boundary, resulting in the killing of 29 civilians, while injuring 117 others.
Last month armies of the two countries agreed to implement 2003 cease-fire agreement “in letter and spirit.”
