NEW DELHI, July 18 (Xinhua) — Indian parliament’s upper house — Rajya Sabha added the interpretation facility for five more languages, taking the total number to 22 languages, announced Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday.
Naidu said that the five languages for which the interpretation facility has been introduced lately are – Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani, Santhali and Sindhi.
Official sources in the Indian parliament’s lower house “Lok Sabha” said that the new interpreters recruited for the new five languages will also be used in Lok Sabha when need arises.
Indian parliamentarians come from different language-speaking states, thus the interpretation facility is needed for communication.
The Constitution of India orders the country to promote the spread of the “Hindi” language to make it serve as the national languate. Enditem
