Lamki tense after truck kills student

Dhangadhi, April 30 ,, Lamki of Kailali district remained tense today due to demonstration by the locals following the death of a woman in a road mishap at Lamki.
Sunita Rawal, 19, studying at Lamki Multiple College, Lamki, was killed when a truck (Na 7 Kha 9233) hit her. Police beat the demonstrators with truncheons and used teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Dakshya Kumar Basnet, said that seven police persons have been injured when the demonstrators pelted stone at them. Similarly, Premraj Mudbhari of the College was also injured in the incident. The injured are receiving treatment at a local Lalratna Hospital.
The locals have been demonstrating at Lamki by obstructing vehicles at Lamki along the east-west highway road section, demanding appropriate compensation to the deceased family and action against the truck driver. Police have arrested the driver.
