Kathmandu, July 5 (RSS): Nepali Congress leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said the country’s present economic progress was realized on the basis of the economic policy the Nepali Congress introduced after the restoration of democracy in Nepal.
Addressing a programme organized jointly by Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation and Girija Prasad Koirala Workers’ Foundation on the occasion of 95th birth anniversary of Nepali Congress leader Girija Prasad Koirala here Thursday, he said the NC played a significant role in the liberalization of Nepal’s economy. The liberal economy first initiated by the NC brought the country to this stage, he argued.
NC central member Nabindra Raj Joshi seconded Dr Mahat view and accused the present government of failing to take the private sector into confidence.
Former Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission Dr Jagdish Chandra Pokhrel said the late Girija Prasad Koirala was a development lover. He had the vision for country’s progress and prosperity with social justice.
Workers’ Foundation’s Chairperson Sudha Dahal and GPK Foundations’ member Hari Dhungana remembered late leader Koirala as a versatile political figure, who played vital role to restore peace in the country.
