Kathmandu, Sept 9,, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has sent a message of congratulations to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, on his assumption of office today.
In her message, the President stated that Nepal and Pakistan enjoy close and cordial relations based on goodwill, friendship and mutual understanding. Highlighting the growing people-to-people contacts which have further contributed to consolidate bilateral relations, she has mentioned that beyond bilateral cooperation, the two countries have been working together at regional and international forums on matters of mutual interest.
The President has expressed her willingness to work closely with the President of Pakistan in the days ahead for further strengthening the cordial relations between the two countries and peoples. She has also extended her best wishes to the Pakistani counterpart for his successful tenure of office and good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Pakistan.
