Butwal, July 17 ,, The ‘Chief Minister Rural Development Programme’ floated by the State-5 government for socio-economic development of most disadvantaged rural people is coming into effect in all rural municipalities of the state from new fiscal year. A meeting of the cabinet of State-5 government on Tuesday amended the work procedure-2075 BS of the Chief Minster Rural Development Programme in a way to expand the initiative to all 73 rural municipalities of the state from new fiscal 2076/77 BS. Earlier, the programme was implemented in 35 most-disadvantaged rural municipalities. The meeting amended the work procedure to authorize concerned local governments for programme execution keeping the role of authorization and monitoring to the state government, shared Baijanath Chaudhary, State-5 government spokesperson. It may be noted that the State-5 government had launched the rural development programme from fiscal 2075/76 BS. Budget Rs 170 million was appropriated to execute the programme in 34 rural municipalities. This time the state government has appropriated grant of Rs 5.2 million for each rural municipality and Rs 410 million for monitoring, facilitation and management. According to the work procedure, the target beneficiaries of the programme are defined as poor households, helpless people, senior citizens, single woman, children and people with disability, Dalit, backward community, families with insecure residence, and families with families caused by disaster and other incidents. The cabinet meting also decided to allow the presentation of a bill on the establishment and operation of information and communications academy at the state assembly. The broader objective of the academy is to increase access to information and communication technology, build a knowledge-based society by generating IT-based employment and promote digital governance and transparent disclosure of state government affairs, among others.
